He just picked up his new car today. Traded in his LR4 for a 2015 MINI 4dr S (Auto). He said the the salesman told him it will beat a 911 to 60 mph but after that the 911 will pull ahead. being my, boss, I just said wow, and kept the 'your crazy old man and that guy is full of shit' to myself. However I've been trying to find the stats on this and I cant find 0-60 anywhere. Can anyone provide the facts to be.
Also Al Gore is keeping the Northeast cold to drive up energy spending.

That's a rather drastic change.

That salesman is speaking a crock of shit. That Cooper S will hit 60 in 6.9 seconds. I am willing to bet every follicle of hair on my body that a modern 911 will accelerate in less than half the time.

6.8 to 60.

C&D review. They're showing 6.8-7 sec.

You guessed right:
according to zeroto60times.com, the S four-door does 0-60 in 6.9, whereas the slowest 911 carrera with a manual does it in 4.8 (4.6 with PDK).
Amazing how incompetent (or lying) some salesman can be.

The Mini should do 0-60 in about 7-8 sec or so, which means it will outdrag a 911 from the early 1970s to 60mph.

less than half might be a stretch but i'll give you faster by a lot

good work, its too bad i cant show tis to my boss, hes the kind that would get greatly offended. at least I can know for sure.

It is a quick car. There are technically older 911s that are slower.

I have come across people like this way too often. And they're perfectly smart, capable people - often more capable at things (work) than I am. A lot of these happen to be engineers, since I work in an engineering company.
I am still aghast at the bullshit they will eat up from a salesman about cars and not think about it twice...
Your post reminds me of such people.

Send him an anonymous email from a ''concerned 911 driver''.

right, just like how a (new) camry can out accelerate a (old) ferrari

Better start shaving...
2014 911 Carrera S - 3.9s
2014 911 Carrera Cabrio - 4.2s
2015 911 Targa 4S -4.2s
If we go back a few years it's even slower. It's certainly faster than a mini, but not less than half the time.

Indeed, it's all about context.

haha
mr boss guy,
your salesman was full of shit,
sincerely,
that 911 driver you beat off the line cuz I didn;t feel like wasting my gas to prove a point

He didn't even get the LED headlamps?!
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:21 |

all he wanted was S, nav, and runflats in British Green
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:26 |

he didn't say what year... I'm sure it would beat a 356
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:35 |

But but but the Turbo will do it in 3.4 and the Turbo S will do it in 3.1!
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:42 |

You didn't say turbo.
START SHAVING

God dammit Al Gore!
![]() 03/24/2015 at 11:59 |

right? I can;t believe no1 else picked up on that. Thats crazier than a MINI beating a Porsche. I'll have to ask him how he thinks Al does it. Chem Trails maybe?

it's supposed to be rainy and close to 60 Thursday and Friday so maybe, just maybe, I'll be able to get my mr2 out of my father's garage by the second week of April.

I hate having this conversation.
Internal monologue: I don't want to hurt your feelings and sound like an insufferable know-it-all, but holy shit you are wrong. So wrong. So, so, so wrong. Please stop talking.

Know anyone with a 911 to borrow??
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:24 |

yea i'd like to get my summres on this weekend and wash the car. unfortunaltely the tires are in the back corner on my back yard in a shed, the shed door is still blocked and my hose i left somewhere in my backyard after a bonfire. i'll probably find it in may

haha nope, i think lining up my WRX would prove enough
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:27 |

I should think so, but he'd be all, "It's a Subaru that you've modified extensively because I know very little and it's not a Porsche."
![]() 03/24/2015 at 12:31 |
|
haha he didn;t even know what the WRX was. it's still stock.
![]() 03/24/2015 at 13:08 |

Haha. The guy that sold me the focus st said that he pulled on a Jeep SRT8 from a stop light. I thought, "lol, only one of you was racing."
![]() 03/24/2015 at 13:17 |

I find that more believable than the 911 vs cooper. At least theres a confusing difference in those two cars, small, light turbo, vs heavy SUV with massive power. i bet the 0-60 is a lot closer on the STvs SRT too
![]() 03/24/2015 at 13:19 |
|
True but even a 1-2 second difference is a lifetime in a 0-60 pull
![]() 03/24/2015 at 13:21 |
|
i had to check, its .3 seconds. A win is a win tho. I sure hope it wasn;t your car he was racing the Jeep with

A Renault salesman told me the engine in the Duster had been tweaked by the F1 Renault team.
The Renault Duster!

I'm willing to bet with the exact same 0-60 time, I'd beat this guy to 60 in my DD Milan V6.
Anyone who believes that line from a dealer isn't going to beat me off the line hahahaa

That and hes 76 so...

Hahahaha.
Maybe I'll go on roller blades.
